J g, how does your theory of privacy on the internet intersect with the fact that it is in many ways an entirely public place?

Has everyone here run their SI moniker through a search engine? If you are at all prolific on SI, you will probably discover that there are dozens of hits, and your fairly vehement and supposedly exclusive-to-this-forum thoughts and feelings are all over cyberspace.

I would agree that there should be no trickery to get people to turn over private information, and that children should not be asked any personal questions at all on juvenile web sites. However, beyond that I really wonder what reasonable expectations of privacy would include.

Have you been over here very much before? Your name looks familiar, but I am not sure where I ran across you. A great big welcome, in any case!!
