I knew one person who was in the dirty dozen (the movie was a true story and so are Sargeant Fury Comics*.. fact!) who knew Lucky Luciano as he used to be in prison in the adjacent cell and one guy who was in the Great Escape (the scrounger), one guy who was on the Tirpitz, one who was a top Stuka pilot, one guy who built the german knick bien radar, one guy who gaurded at Buchenwald, one who manned an ack ack on the north sea, one who ran radar sites in northern England, one who flew Spitfires, some who flew lancs, several who landed in Normandy, some guys who took Monte Cassino (CDNS)... I think the most important soldier of the war was Alan Turing and his Turing machine.

* every outlandish tale in Sargeant fury comic books actually happened in the WW II.

Read The Secret War. I have a cavity magnetron from the Pine Tree Line.

Grandfather was at Ypres and father was at Siegfried Line. I don't recommend wars.
