But what we do have is,again, much like the situation with a criminal. He was abused by his parents, mistreated in school and by society, but there he sits having attempted rape and murder. The treatment he received in the past was unfair, but can that be used to justify his behavior now.
The U.S government's Middle Eastern policy and opinion tends to favour that the criminal, his family, his neighbours, his town, and also his countrymen are subsequently punished. They are labelled the same as the criminal, and receive virtually the same punishment. I would never support the criminals of the Middle East, but often there are so many other innocent people caught in that same blame and stigma. That is exactly my point and is where policy and opinion must change.
I believe your analogy is correct in the North American sense, but life being unfair in North America sometimes pales in comparison to the term of life being unfair in other places in the world.
