George, The Saudis will continue in power in Saudi Arabia. Don't let the fundamentalists' ranting and ravings or their bombing innocent Africans (Kenya and Tanzania) fuzz the picture.
And the Regimes of Iraq and Iran are hardly stable themselves. Excluding the fundamentalists, Americans are well-liked throughout the Middle East, and even grudgingly admired in Iraq. In fact would it surprise you to learn that high-ranking members of the Iraqi Government secretly contacted our Company before the 1991 Gulf War, and delivered numerous materials on Iraq's Military capability/ target locations to our Company's executives? (We turned them over to the US Government).
And if we went to war over Kuwait, imagine what we would do if Saudi Arabia were ever truly threatened....
However if you like instability, then look at Nigeria. There, the situation is flipped from Bosnia, where Minority Muslim Tribes, the Hausa and Fulani, lord it over a Christian Majority Country composed of Yoruba (most African Americans are Yoruba descendants), Ibo, Oye, Ogoni (a la Ken Saro Wiwa, hung because he was a Christian), and Ijwe.
The Muslim Military Commanders have literally run this Country into the Ground. They are wildly corrupt, feeding billions of dollars of oil revenue into their personal overseas bank accounts while the people of the most populous country in Africa starve.
Indeed I was in Nigeria recently when the car I was in ran over a Cane Rat. There ensued a tremendous argument between the driver and three pedestrians over who got to eat the rat- yes a Cane Rat.
Anti-Govenrment demonstrations have been on the increase in the South. About two months ago, the Government troops fired on the Yoruba demonstrators. A number were killed and wounded. The wounded were taken to Lagos Hospitals. The Government troops went into the hospitals and executed the wounded Yoruba, including one doctor assisting them, claiming that they were "PRISONERS OF WAR"!
Needless to say, the Yoruba are seething over these shootings. Indeed when the riots broke out after Moshood Abbiola's death last month, Yoruba rioters in the South began hunting down every northerner Fulani/Hausa that they could find and killed them- a little statistic that did not appear in CNN- as usual trying to mask the truth and to avoid the real issues.
If the Military Puppet Government does not hold legitimate open, free democratic elections in October as previously promised by Abacha, and dismiss themselves forever from the Nigerian Governmental scene, then watch the situation deteriorate rapidly in Nigeria come October.......
Sincerely,
Doug F. |
