To slvfx - the IBM work has begun.
IBM has a "depot" down in Atanta which holds the inventory for the business centers. If a hotel in Denver orders a business center - the equipment is flown to Denver, where an IBM technician installs and configures the business center. This can be done in as quickly as a couple of days.
Just to put things into the proper perspective - I might point out that USA is no longer an R&D company. They have commercialized their technology and are generating revenues by selling it on the open market. While there is always some R&D going on, including the development of a revolutionary technology designed for e-commerce, USA should be looked upon as a commercial operating company.
Right after USA announced the lawsuit, AlphaNet denounced it , saying there was no merit, which is standard procedure, because they aren't going to admit to doing something wrong. Unfortunately, this may take months, even years for this suit to be tried in court. but unless this case is tried before OJ's jury, I don't see anyway how AlphaNet can get out of it.
Finally, remember that USA's fiscal year ends June 30. Which means that the next financial announcement will be the 1998 fiscal year, not the 2nd quarter. Those numbers take longer than quarterly announcements, and while I can't say for sure when they will be announced, it will most likely be within the next 4 weeks or so. |
