Fiberman: Back in the mid eighties I took a major position in a West Texas Oil Drilling Company. Being from Texas but living in California, the investment gave me a connection to my home state. Of course I still had relatives, but it gave me a business reason to make the trip home.

The stock started down and I held on. After it continued down I had lost so much, I just did not want to take the loss. I kept hoping it would recover. Hey, I even held on after a 1 for 10 reverse split. Of course the stock kept heading down even after the split.

Finally, we (stock owners) voted to divest the company. After the sell of the assets, my dividend check, believer it or not, took me back to even. I did loose my commission on the buy, which back in those days a few thousand shares cost a few hundred dollars. I had to thank God, I had learned a very important lesson...and did not have to pay for it.
