Re: Those wacky Finns!

As Paul Rodriguez said, "Hey! This is America! Speak SPANISH!!"

Brian H., if I recall correctly, the Finns (like the Hungarians) are thought to be descended from nomadic Mongol peoples, so your suggestion about being related isn't so farfetched. (Tero and Pekka, am I remembering right about that?)

Marginmike, if you look again at Pekka's post (#13848) I think you'll see that he isn't teasing Americans, he's poking fun at the Swedes, an activity which we all traditionally heartily enjoy ;-)

Pekka, here's a joke you might enjoy I that I remember from growing up in Missouri. One day a meeting of the 50 American states was convened at which all of the states were to choose their symbols. Of course, the first states to choose got the best, most attractive symbols, like "Sunshine" for Florida. As the selection progressed, eventually only the oddball or uninspiring symbols were left, like "Buckeyes" for Ohio. Finally, only Missouri and Minnesota were left to choose, and the only remaining symbols available were "Mules" and "Swedes". Of course, Minnesota got last choice!
