No tax deduction, yes. However Intel does buy it's own stock back with excess cash and basically is investing in their own future. So if anything they wind up paying taxes by being successful in the future.

This is not a problem AMD and other generators of net losses need concern themselves with. What does AMD do to keep their "dog and pony show" going? From what I've seen they sell promises and issue more shares, this is not a recipe for wealth building.
