Hi Cal.If the VSE had any guts, it would declare simply NO SHORTING and give those who are now short until year end to cover all outstanding shorts. Well, that would take care of the recorded shorts! Still leaving the brokerages to play havoc with the market! Right now, the VSE is in desperate need of BUYERS, not SHORTsellers. We have a "chicken and egg" thing going here. If commodities don't recover in the short term the VSE will continue to "toast"! While we are sitting in this hole, they should change their policies and diversify their exchange. To attract anyone with any credibility they have to cleanse the board. This is not unlike what hapened in Australia. When companies can't get money they dry up! When they dry up they cleanse the board. It is clearly survival of the fittest! Its like medalling with nature, we shouldn't do that. The VSE is below 500 for a number of reasons,but the main reason is commodities, Russia will provide further momentum for that slide! So one feeds on the other....why is the VSE at below 500, because commodities are in the toilet and investors are bailing out...how do you get investors back....commodities have to show some sign of recovery!!! the chief
