I have been mentioning this STAIR STEP. Could it just be a very tight RECTANGLE. Normally the RECTANGLE will take the direction of the immediate trend, which is still down.

Have you ever seen a strong rebound from a very short & tight RECTANGLE. I have seen such from long extended RECTANGLE, but this one is really tight and volitile. The long extended RECTANGLES are not very volitile and are normally classified as an extended base lines.
