A couple of words in Emile's defense:
"Perhaps the Jewish people have something to offer the world in the way of entertainment, law, medicine, philosophy, science, and their ideas in these areas are compelling."
I agree with you 100% here. However, let's not forget about the $3 billion in military and economic aid from the United States that Israel is receiving. Altogether, in the last 47 years, Israel has received more than $80 billion in assistance.
"You sound bitter that a race so small and insignificant in number can have such an influence on the world. The size of Israel is smaller than the city of San Diego; the number of the Jews in the world are dwarfed by almost all other races or religions."
Absolutely correct about the influence. Also, Israel is by far the dominant military power in its region, with all the military help they are getting. Its neighbors can't begin to match its fire power and effectiveness.
Guess who will be paying for this: cnn.com
Did you know that Jewish immigrants (sorry, refugees) receive special treatment?
P.L. 105-118 contains numerous provisions that are designed to benefit Israel or support it politically. Not less that $80 million, for example, shall be made available for resettling refugees from the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe and other refugees in Israel. The bill reaffirms that it is U.S. policy that economic funds appropriated for Israel "shall not be less than the annual debt repayment (interest and principal) from Israel to the United States."
