TLC,

I believe that the First Amendment does provide for the right to express one's ideas, regardless of the nature or specific philosophy that said ideas may originate.

Any rational individual can read them, intelligently discuss them and take them, leave them or argue them. No harm done.
One must also have the ability to accept the fact that opposing ideas, values and theories are out there, so long other rights are not infringed upon, indeed that no law is broken, any one is free to express their ideas.

Such right does not mean nor gives automatic value to the expressed thought, if the general consensus of such ideology is rubbish, then for the most part such rubbish will be exactly that ~ rubbish, pure an unadulterated.

I have made note of your thread as a measure of the consensus for the ideas and expressions of the supreme hero of mental gonorrhea, I will keep an eye on it.

I also would be in favor to allow the humpback of Notre SI, to keep on spewing his sewer as it puts him on record for what he stands, sooner or later it may be useful when the appropriate time shall come.

I do urge anyone reading such carp, to be aware and ready since this individual I believe him to be gravely dangerous, indeed a token example of the vast ideology of evil that his kind promote.

Keep an eye open.

Having said all of the above, there are other rights that one must respect, in an equal basis as the right provided by the First Amendment, I quote in this instance, U.S. Editor Henry Louis Mencken:

"I believe there is a limit beyond which free speech cannot go, but it's a limit that's very seldom mentioned. It's the point where free speech begins to collide with the right to privacy. I don't think there are any other conditions to free speech. I've got a right to say and believe anything I please, but I haven't got a right to press
it on anybody else. .... Nobody's got a right to be a nuisance to his neighbors."

End of quote.

And on such basis, I encourage two simple techniques that have work for me in this and other instances to avoid the virus of the idiotic:

1. Utilize the "ignore" feature of the SI Universe, it is called "NEXT", a simple "click !" does wonders !!

2. Do not respond to his sewer, unless of course you feel it is absolutely necessary. But simply state your piece. Do not argue.

He eventually will go away..... remember that arguing with a moron is a losing battle.... much like a pissing match, regardless of who "wins", everyone gets wet... and worse of it, after a while, it is indistinguishable which one is the idiot.

Imagine arguing with a white washed-out wall..... It is enormously boring, you will not hear a rational response, worst of all, the passers-by will think you are the moron!

Lastly, just in case I have not said it....
Keep an eye open, there ideologies that if left unchecked, they become dangerous.

Z.

p.s.

"Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual." --Thomas Jefferson to Isaac H. Tiffany, 1819.

"bold" is mine.....

p.s.s. Congratulations on your piece re: "The Circus Rings" (gold/silver)... I enjoyed it very much. An appropriate parable.
