You got it! The Man did play 1b earlier in his career but not in '63. By then the Cardinals had learned to use the Bay Area as their 1st Base Farm System (White, Cepeda, Hernandez, Clark, McGwire, et al). Javier came over from the Bucs for one of baseball's better nicknames - Vinegar Bend Mizell. One more... Name the player who had the longest gap between World Series appearances. The great Jim Murray once made a pretty good pun based on what you would have if this pitcher got the upper hand in a brawl after he beaned catcher Phil Roof.
