Darlene - I don't think so - there would be too much evidence that Monica was an adventuress with a past history and affair with a married man. She would make a very shaky witness in any impeachment proceeding and you can be sure the Whitehouse investigators will have a lot of dirt on her - a lot. Personally, I think Clinton's statement was very cleverly crafted and aimed in large part at the Congress, and puts great pressure on Starr to stick to his knitting, remember his supposed original mandate, and not present the congress a report based on sex. The perception of extreme political bias on Starr's part is firmly embedded in the public's mind - and Clinton cleverly put this front and centre in his statement tonight. Perhaps this was why Starr was so grim faced after today's session. He is in the ring with a master politician (love him or hate him) and Strarr may be out of his depth in this arena - also he will look very bad indeed if the investigation into his leaks to the press comes up with the goods. The last thing Congress wants (dreads in fact) is a report based on sex. Also there are time constraints on what Congress can do

It will be very difficult for Starr to make a case that Clinton suborned perjury, and in the case of the Paula Jones case which was a dismissed civil suit - it will be hard to make a perjury charge have enough weight to carry the day.
