The web authoring tools business is brutal...however: "HomeSite 4.0, also due this fall, will include support for budding Web standards, such as XML (extensible markup language) and SMIL (synchronized multimedia integration language)" news.com As an owner of SoftQuad (HotMetal), naturally I've followed Allaire too, and the IPO sounds very exciting. Not much chance of my account seeing any of the IPO action though. I will say, that at my job, we have three editors installed, MS Frontpage, Allaire Homesite, and SoftQuad HotMetal Pro. But the editors are not the interesting thing--the application server/ecommerce side of the business is.
