Dan
No, I dont take those verses to mean anything literally. I am not picking and choosing literalism. that wouldnt make much sense to do that, in my mind. I was only curious what they meant from the perspective of people who do take things literally. I think it raises interesting questions.
We have shared many private messages, and you already know where I am coming from. I dont have one shred of desire to turn anyone from their current belief system. I have no desire to talk down anyones beiefs. I do have a desire to speak withpeople who believe differetnly than I do, as long as it is with mutual respect, because i beieve that ishow we learn and grow. If I only spoke with people who believ exactly as I do, I would never have a chance to grow and expand.
As for those verses, I would think that a literalist would have to take them at face value(please correct my assumption if I am wrong) and not try to interpret them as anything except for what they say. If the bible is open to different interpretations, how can we take it literally? ( I ask this to know your perspective, not to condemn, please realize the difference)What would God's intention be in giving us a document that is open to great interpretation, and then say take it literally?
With Sincerity and respect,
