3Dfx Woos Top HP Manager to Drive Global Branding Campaign

PR Newswire - August 18, 1998 07:45

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- 3Dfx Interactive(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: TDFX) today named James P. Wallace as
the new director of marketing communications, responsible for extending the consumer brand and continuing to position 3Dfx
Interactive as the leader in 3D graphic accelerators. Wallace replaces Simone Seydoux who will oversee the launch of the
3Dfx London office, scheduled to open in early September, and will be responsible for all European marketing efforts.

Wallace has a rich consumer-technology background, which includes experience at Hewlett-Packard Company where he
served as the North American brand manager and before that, at Pioneer Electronics, Inc., as a marketing communications
manager. Most recently, Wallace played an integral role in redefining HP's consumer brand identity, a campaign that took
nearly two years to complete. He excels at producing impactful advertising campaigns and has won several awards, including a
number of Clios, Cannes Lions, Gold Effies, as well as The Grand Clio and the ICON awards "Best of Show."

In addition, Wallace was named to the prestigious "Marketing 100" list published by Advertising Age in 1995 for his work at
Pioneer. This is an annual list that recognizes the top 100 marketing and advertising professionals who have made significant
contributions in brand building.

"Jim is a powerful addition to our senior staff and with his brand know-how, we will continue to build consumer awareness of
the 3D category and promote 3Dfx Interactive as the ultimate PC entertainment experience," said Greg Ballard, chief executive
officer and president of 3Dfx Interactive.

As he has successfully done in the past, Wallace will direct Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, the advertising agency well known
for its work with Hewlett-Packard, "Got Milk?" and Budweiser. Additionally, he will be responsible for corporate marketing
activities, including management of the 3Dfx Web site, promotions and trade shows.

3Dfx Interactive develops high-performance, cost-effective 3D media processors, software and related technology that are
designed to enable a highly immersive, interactive and realistic 3D experience across interactive electronic entertainment
platforms -- personal computers, coin-operated arcade system and location-based entertainment. Current 3Dfx Interactive
products include the Voodoo(TM) family of accelerator chip sets, Voodoo 2(TM), Voodoo Graphics(R) and Voodoo
Bansheez(TM). Visit the company on the Web at 3dfx.com.
