If you're going to take the Bible literally always then what about these verses?
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" - John 14:6
Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgement to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. - John 5:22-23
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent". - John 6:28-29
"I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins" - John 8:24
Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people. - Hebrews 9:27
I pray that you will embrace the whole Bible literally not just pieces of it. I could go on and on with verses such as these that can be taken literally to show you that Jesus is the way to salvation. The salvation message through Jesus is not open to some wishy washy interpretation but is VERY literal.
