Jack, 1987 does not occur frequently. Since then trading collars
have limited extreme volatility, that is not to say that it wont happen again.

As for increasing returns selling covered calls, The book "Options
as a strategic investment" details this. In short by lowering the cost
basis of the stock one can increase returns, and only if you buy a stock thinking it will
go up :). The strategy also takes into account stocks being called away.

I think that some of your technical support/resistance levels are useful indicators
and I hoped that you would expand the discussion by suggesting some
trading strategies (if not ad hoc) that you use. But then again there
are other threads where this would be more appropriate.

regards
Anthony
