Multiple studies have shown that sector selection is more important than stock selection. Sectors can be defined by market segment as well as by size. Mr. Market just doesn't want small caps now, and SEBL segment has been damaged by poor Vantive results. This creates doubts about whether the problems are specific to Vantive or will spill over to SEBL. Also there are worries that SAP will somehow win the space overnight. Also there have been reports of a high percentage of failures in front office automation. Trying to automate salesmen in particular is like herding cats.
IMHO, all of the worries specific to SEBL are misplaced, and investing at these levels will eventually be very profitable. Patience will be needed to wait for smaller cap companies to come back in favor, especially in a market dominated by institutions. Enough good news and/or publicity will do it.
