To ALL: Oh Where, Oh Where have all the (Novell) Management have gone???.... After Frankenberg and Markman several other Top executives from Novell have left and turned up at USWEBB Corp., located in Santa Clara California. usweb.com
Here is a brief list of recent defectors.
1)CHAIRMAN, CEO, PRESIDENT: JOSEPH FIRMAGE formerly Vice President of Strategic Planning for Novell's Systems Group.
2)CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER: SHELDON LAUBE formerly Chief Technology Officer for Novell since May, 1995.
3)CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER: JAMES HEFFERNAN formerly CFO and COO from 1992 through for Serius Corporation until Novell's acquisition of the company.
4)EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, MARKETING: TOBY COREY formerly Vice President of Marketing for Novell's NetWare Products Division, a $1 billion unit of Novell Inc. responsible for the NetWare network operating system.
5) SENIOR DIRECTOR, MARKETING: CHRISTOPHER TAYLOR formerly Director, International Marketing for Novell since September, 1995. After joining Novell in 1993, he became Group Product Manager for the $1 billion NetWare Products Division. From 1991 through 1993.
What does this mean for Novell and is this part of the reasons for the current management problems we have identified at the "New Novell"? Perhaps, or it might just be house cleaning by a more agressive John Young.
In any case it does explain many of the marketing delays for the InternetWare product which may now be behind us. It is criticl that Marangi forge ahead with the help of CEO Young to simplify and establish an effective organizational structure (ie. promote talent from within) that provides fast and immidiate response to customers and the market. If a framework is built with the solid foundation of current talent, a new CEO can come in and propell Novell forward with a few key appointments.
HOWEVER, what I fear is that there may be some shareholder in fighting (ie. Norada and company) that want Novell to follow a different path. That path may lead to USWEBB and may also be bitter for sharholders.
The last thing I want is a BUY-UNDER!!! I would certainly like to hear what other Novell sharholders feel about this???
