Sam, <First, they practically steal the drives, and then are shocked shocked shocked that some of them fail, and they have to wait 20 minutes for support.> Let me tell you a story. My father, a retired exec. VP for a major corporation, was finally talked into buying a computer for handling his large portfolio. He had it up and running for about 3 months when he had a minor problem. Knowing that I work with these things all day long, he called me. His first words were, "I want this thing to be like a refrigerator. I open it up and everything I am looking for is right there." He went on saying that he expected it to always work and never need repair or upgrading. At first, I laughed at him. After about 24 hours reflection, I decided to model my technology investment portfolio after that simple dream: Why can't a computer be more like a refrigerator? The dream is a long way off but that is what the public wants.
I want something, I open, there it is.
Sorry, but going through your link reminded me of the story,
