DownSouth, >>They picked the 8088 because it was cheap and ran the very skinny, adequate MS-DOS OS. Besides that, Apple was using the 68000 and they were trying to compete with Apple. MS-DOS came after the PC had already been designed. Remember, MS did not have an OS until they bought that OS/86 from that Tom guy for $50,000. MS was not in the OS business until IBM gave them the contract. Bill was selling vaporware even back then! Cheers, Norm
