Trey, My LEC is Bell Atlantic. The $29.95 is in addition to my cable bill. I also paid $300 for the cable modem when I signed-up, otherwise it would have been an additional $10/mo. It is bi-directional, with no phone line needed for the uplink. I have a friend in Florida who has a cable modem that requires the phone line for the uplink. That stinks because you are again tying up a phone line. Bruce
