Sam,
I'm sure USAir has considered that type of service, but I don't
know of any serious talks underway to do it. I think part of it is
they have not had any real competition in their stronghold in the east
and so why practice bleeding? I know they have tried to get their
costs under control lately, mostly with labor concession and that type
of thing, but haven't had much luck. Also, it is very difficult for even
a United, Continental, or Delta to take on the task of creating an
"airline within an airline" and do it successfully. Maybe they watched
CAL Lite fail and decided to focus on what they do best and take care of
that first. I also think their unions are not nearly as friendly to
taking the pay cut and other sacrifices necessary to make it work.

As for greyhound, I think we already have most of their passengers!
Great idea, though.
