John:

I agree HUM should not pay a premium for their stock but I believe they should buy back on any sign of weakness. They should set a floor price each week and buy all shares offered at that price (eg. Week 1 set at $21.00US; Week 2 - $21.25US; Week 3 - $21.50US).
If they are able to quickly purchase 1M shares at prices less than
$23 US, they should raise the repurchase to 2M shares. They can easily afford to repurchase 4M shares if they are priced at less than $25US (total of $100M US).

I believe we could be seeing the first steps to Sorkin taking HUM private or performing an LBO.
