Pasted from Skynet(the first link above):
The network began life back in London in 1972 as Simmonds Warner. It grew quickly, expanding the scope of its operation into the rest of Europe. In 1976, it began operations in Latin America as Choice Air Courier. It was the first complete courier network in Latin America. In 1984, these diverse enterprises were organized into a single worldwide network, called the SkyCourier Network. Today the network operates under the SkyNet name.
Independently Owned And Locally Operated
The SkyNet Worldwide Express Network is a unique international courier cooperative. It is composed of locally owned courier companies operating as SkyNet licensees. Together they comprise the largest independently owned and operated courier network in the world, providing reliable desk to desk service to over 130 countries.
Regional hubs in Miami, Los Angeles, London, Dubai, Singapore and Sydney serve as administration centers and insure that standards of quality and performance are rigidly maintained by network members in their regions.
Management Stability And Service Consistency
In a field where courier companies are constantly changing representatives and local management, over 80% of SkyNet's network stations are run by the same people who started with the company in 1972. Unlike the large express companies, each station is owned by local management. You are thus assured of continuity, local experience and the best possible service level and flexibility.
