I invested in HD specifically because of my willingness and excellent experiences associated with driving the extra 25 mile to my most nearest Home Depot, instead of the local lumberyard where I have had an account for 25 years.

I spent thousands of dollars at HD while completing a remodeling project. I'm in Connecticut, and as far as this area goes, they have a monopoly. They have driven out such competitors as Builders Square and Grossmans, which were area "wharehouse" type lumberyards/harware stores. Until I invested in HD and started to pay attention to this sector, I had never heard of Lowes. They must be a competitor in other states, but as far as New England, New York area goes, it's Home Depot or the local "mom and pop". Nothing else exists.

Looking at the retail sector for sales growth, earnings growth, and margin and margin growth, Home Depot, Lowes, and GAP Stores are the stars. I'm glad that I'm well invested in 2 of the 3.

I don't own Lowes. [:^O
