Moving into nit-pick territory here, which I usually try to avoid, but I suppose that if I'm going to give in to the urge, this thread is the place.

I would say "destroyed the building with a spark plug and a penny", striving to achieve the tone used by the knight-who-said-ni that referred to cutting down every tree in the forest with a herring.

I've always considered Monty Python to be as good a reference as Strunk & White. Sometimes better.

But you're by no means wrong, and you're welcome to utilize your uses as you chooses. Or something like that.
