I spoke with a high level person at NHTSA re: the Volvo product. They had seen the product and thought it wouldn't be ready until at least the middle of the 1999 model yr.

This engineer thought that the product may have been a Simula product because (and I'm paraphrasing) it was clear to him that "the product utilized much of Simula's technology."

He was unaware of the legal problems which SMU and Autoliv are currently having.

I wonder, but don't know for certain if this may be an Autoliv product using you-know-who's technology.

Any thoughts?
