Short squeeze players are still there, just not in as much force. Look at a detailed chart for today, notice the large options activity in calls in the last 60 minutes of trading.. when the price started to go down around 3:45, a huge call position was initiated and the price went up a point.. then 10 minutes later the price started dropping again and another call giant call position was initiated.

Normally, they'd do this through market maker manipulation and large stockpiles of cash, but apparently the only short-squeezers left have to resort to options to leverage their dwindling buying power.

This is an absolutely bearish sign, and this is COMPLETELY designed to take money from august put holders. i've seen it occur for almost every single options expiration on amzn in the last 12 months.

The normal pattern will be a pop of 2-3 points tomorrow, then a dropback of 30-40 points over the next 2-3 weeks, until another pop right before sep expirations.
