This is a response to an old question, but SPSS has several tools
that could be used for 'data mining'. The term is probably over-used
in that it seems everyone wants to have a data mining product.

But SPSS may be unique in the field in that they've been a leader in
the statistical software industry for 25 years. SPSS started on
mainframes in Univerisities and is now being used on PC's in every
imaginable industry.

Check out the SPSS newsgroups to get a feel for what they do and how
they do it.
