<<As long as Clinton does his job that is all that matters to me...>>

You are implying that none of this (Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate, Chinagate, Zippergate, renting out the Lincoln bedroom, campaign finace illegalities, etc.) affects Clinton doing his job. That is not a safe assumption. For example, Monica gained possession of classified documents and passed them on to an old boyfriend. She only was able to get top security clearance (IMHO) because of her relationship with Clinton. Accepting money from the Chinese seems to have made Clinton beholding to them, based on his actions in moving decision-making authority regarding satellite guidance systems away from the State department and to the Commerce department.

The other danger is the ends/means issue. Just because you (the generic you, not you personally) agree with what Clinton is trying to accomplish, does not make the means he uses okay. As an example, it is illegal to use assassination to eliminate a foreign policy "problem". I'm sure no one would agree to having thugs go out and kill anyone who was against affirmative action, even if you are in favor of affirmative action (am I being too optimistic here?).

What is Clinton's job, and how should we judge how he's doing? Remember, Congress passes laws, the President carries them out. The economy is affected by Congressional action. The only Presidential action that really affects it is use (or non-use) of the veto. Clinton has threatened the use of force in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and other places, but has not followed through, thereby encouraging those countries to ignore him. He has undone the diplomatic work of decades by disassociating us from Taiwan and by Hillary undermining the Mid-East peace accords with her comments regarding a Palestinian state. IMHO, he is not doing his job, and the cause of it is easily seen when you look at his lack of character. He doesn't care about the country, only about power.
