Kory, I have no present short or long position in GTW, but follow the stock (and DELL) because it is a leader in it its field. I did recently have a short position that I closed at a loss (obviously, given recent price action).

About 4 years and several computers ago, I bought a Gateway, which arrived with a defective CD-ROM drive. My experience with customer service was chastening, to say the least, beginning with the put-down "do you have the computer plugged in?" line of questioning. It took me a week to convince them that yes indeed it was a defective drive, and they might perhaps give me a return authorization. The new drive worked fine and I was very happy with my Gateway after that. But would I ever buy a computer from them again? Uh uh.

If customer service is still in the non-responsive mode that Wombat describes, it encourages me to look for another opportunity to short the stock.

Your suggestion that Wombat's experience was due to surging demand reminds me of Yogi Berra's restaurant - "Nobody goes there any more, it's too crowded."
