Generally, any CFO will know whether or not the firm is making money. A precise figure can't be determined until the fiscal period is closed and all the adjusting entries have been passed, but a simple profit or loss determination is usually pretty easy. Given that the new management is reported to be professional and of high calibre, I don't think they would have publicly stated that 1997 and YTD 1998 were profitable were they not sure by a safe margin that this was indeed the case. Of course we're all relying on the information they have released to the public, but, thus far, they have not given us any reason to doubt their representations. Given everything that has transpired with this company to date, I sincerely doubt that they would be so foolish as to release misleading information. I am quite sure that these guys are highly cognizant of what would result if they were to do so.
