Marc-

I agree with you better times are coming for THQ. The fall lineup of new game releases will give the stock a boost. And I also agree the stock will show a similar pattern to last year, but only when we get closer to October. So, what did that price pattern look like one year ago? Let's see:

On August 20, 1997 THQI closed at 10 1/4. On December 8 the closing price was 20 1/2...a double. Not bad at all by any measure. However, what happened between those dates is the point I wish to make. Again using 8/20 as the one year ago reference point THQI reached a high of 13 on September 15 (+26% gain) but only for a day. The stock then drifted back down below 12 and then took 14 days to break the $13 mark.

On October 13 the price closed at $15 representing a 46% increase since late August. What's so special about the 13th? Well, it was 7 days prior to the 3rd quarter earnings report (10/22/97). Only just before the earnings report did the stock really move and stay higher. Once the report (and good one at that) was made public, the stock made a steady march to $20.

Although past performance is not guarantee of future results (everyone has to say that when making a prediction) past pricing patterns can be a reliable indicator of what to expect in the future. Despite excellent earnings, the cancellation of the debt offering and new game releases, $30 is still a strong resistance point. I believe it will take a good 3rd quarter report will break that resistance point and the stock then can make new highs.

I do want to make it clear that I'm long on THQ and plan to own the stock to at least the end of the year and probably much longer. When I stated $30 would be a long time coming, I meant not until October. If the stock corrects back to $25 or less I would consider buying more. If the stock does buck the trend and recovers back over 30, I would certainly be very pleased with that.

Gook Luck to you too.

Kelvin
