From the tone of FBR's press release it sounds to me like we might have a case of a little sour grapes here. (it doesn't sound like a typical news release, more like hype)

Maybe FBR got left out of a deal of some sort and are taking a jab at the company....

(since this pr is the day after the share buyback announcement I think it was tied into that. Was WavePhore originally going to buy shares from FBR but changed their mind to buy them on the open market? Hmmm)

This might also be some sort of options play by FBR since Friday is expiration day.

As WavePhore said in the final line of their response to clear the air "While WavePhore, Inc. does not make projections, the Company continues to meet or exceed all current analyst reports"

In a couple of weeks WaveTop will be co-promoted in Comp USA stores across the country (store personel are being trained for this push).

Did you notice the WaveTop logo in Microsoft's Windows98 partners Ad in WIRED Magazine this month?

Looks like Wavo is still making the biz plan happen.
