Well of course you want the content! Mixed in with the junk, is some very cool stuff. Like the radio, you get a few songs that are complete crap, and then you find a gem that is really moving. Then again, if you leave the radio off all the time, you miss all of it.
Strictly speaking, if your broker has a security issue with Java, I can accept that. If they have a security issue with JavaScript, they are clueless regarding net technology. I'd trade with them by phone under those circumstances as you never know what may happen to you online if they don't know what they're doing. I guess that defeats the purpose of online trading though, eh?
Another solution: Use two browsers. Set up (only as an example), IE for your trading with JavaScript 'off'. Use NN for surfing, with JavaScript 'on'. But also check out the new kid on the block, Opera. Very cool new addition to the browser market—very light in terms of system overhead, many people find it to be the fastest browser they've ever used. Give it a 30-day trial spin:
