Of course that assumes that the debt will be paid, right? I thought that's what the IMF was for, bailing our bankers out of situations where they couldn't possibly recover more than a fraction of their investment.

I think there is indeed great risk in buying individual issues in these countries. Some companies will survive. Some will not. Worth the risk to me for the possible capital appreciation. One thing to be bearish on a bubble -- such as has developed in our market. These markets have lost a major portion of their value (I know, I know -- not without good reason), but some value remains.

If it doesn't sound good to you -- "don't try this at home."
