they should cut TDW's estimate. TDW is the animal creating this current situation. what do you think of TDW purposefully driving the shallow water price to around $4800 a day? obviously the long term affect TDW is trying to create is to drive out some of the smaller operations and to accelerate scrapping of older boats. TDW is basically "making a market" in their own boat rates. short term they create goodwill with exxon and other shallow water suppliers in the gulf. long term, however, the oil companies are going to eat it in the shorts as TDW drives rates lower, rates will jump significantly higher very quickly when boat supply moves even 10% below current levels. there is no relative current reason for TDW to lower shallow water rates to their lowest level in three years relative to current boat supply; they are, nonetheless, doing it and it is tainting TMAR's short term stock price movement

why does the market sell off TMAR when the average overall boat rate for the gulf is at least 10% higher than TDW for deep water rigs, and overall average currently at 16% higher? (TMAR has newer boats and serves a disproportionate amount of deep water rigs relative to TDW.)
