As well, clones are usually assembled from a mixed supplier bag of components, usually the components that "graduated" in the bottom 60% of the class. Serious manufacturers, like Dell/Compaq/IBM/HP, with high spec sourcing standards usually gobble up the best components, leaving the leftovers to the clone manufacturers. Additionally, clone manufacturers have not invested in good QC or sufficient burn-in practices. Businesses, looking at the total cost of ownership, not just the acquisition cost, prefer the brand names like Dell, where the total cost of ownership is less. Consumers..they are another story. They usually only look at the cost of acquisition, until they get burned.
