Gore problems could be a political event to truly be worried about. One thing that has kept Clinton problems from being a major problem for the market is Gore's presence with moderate fiscal views similar to Clinton. The possibility of an impending appointment of an Independent counselor to look into phone calls by Gore to raise campaign money is a significant threat to the perceived stability of the US. This is particularly true now that Americans and especially foreigners can see how serious and debilitating an Independent Counselor investigation can be. This is all a wild card and can prove a major political event in U.S. history as while most would not put Clinton's transgressions in league with Nixon, virtually none would put Gore's possible "crime" in a league with Agnew. People don't like their vote being overturned especially when they are still expressing that sentiment in opinion polls. It is interesting that the strongest nation in the world that owes much of its strength to the rule of law is now self immolating by the rule of law run amok. Meanwhile we have a well financed terrorist army that has declared a holy war against the US and is probably already responsible for the murders of hundreds of America and and is bunkered down in Afghanistan. This may require major military action in a hostile nation. And of course we aren't concerned about a massive nuclear build-up in North Korea all going on in a massive underground city to hide from spy satellites. And of course we don't hear much of the Iraqi defector who has detailed the attempts of Iraq weapons of mass destruction build up. Just heard Clinton to make a major national security announcement, wonder if we're heading for Afghanistan?
