What we see is an increasing news focus on certain kinds of violence. In the USA, more column inches are devoted to rare, sporadic shooting sprees than to the plight of Kurds and Bosnians combined. I think the idea that we are becoming more violent is an artifact of the way news is presented to us. Jmo
