Gambit-

There is currently a korean made portable .mp3 player available.
Firms appear to be shying away from introducing one in the US due to
feared copyright violations/lawsuits. Some are supposedly being
distributed here anyway, but not on a grand scale.

Due to the nature of the availability of .mp3 files, I'm not sure
that it would be a great consumer product for Creative.

The MPMan (not related to Diamond's rumored product)
holds 16MB (~15 minutes) of data, expandable to 64.
A webpage for it is available at mpman.nl

and there is a small story on the MPMan from April, which
covers the topic fairly well at
techweb.com
