Incidentally McGinn accidentally let it slip that Ascend was one of the companies they are acquiring in a company meeting a couple of months ago. This is from a Lucent contact in NJ. If this is true, and I were CSCO's CEO, I'd be scrambling. Actually, Cisco has already made it pretty clear that they are up to the task of meeting Lucent head on -- with or without Ascend. I thought McGinn mentioned in a recent interview that Lucent wasn't going to use the pooling method when they made their next acquisition. Anyone remember this? My impression was that they were waiting for something else...maybe this little confab with Ascend, before they just went ahead and snapped someone up. Maybe I'm remembering this incorrectly. Mark
