According to sj kaplan, there was unusually heavy gold mining share option volume today, mostly on the call side and for the late month contracts. He considers this to be bearish and a contrarion signal. Yet, he also indicates that commercial accumulation of long contracts is at an all time record level which he considers to be extremely bullish for gold. Go figure? On the surface ,then, this would suggest higher gold prices with lower equity prices but.... could not extremely heavy call option buying also be considered bullish if the buying is done by insiders or commercials or "smart money" as some define it?
