Hello Folks,
I stumbled onto this thread in a roundabout fashion chasing down a reference to Packaging Plus Services. Haven't thought much about that company for a couple of years but when I happened upon the reference I had to check it out.
I guess this USXP is the latest reincarnation of Packaging Plus. And I see from reviewing a few of the previous posts that Richard Altomare is still the man. My best advice to you all is buyer beware.
Full disclosure: The name at the top of the page is who I really am, I don't hide behind aliases. My dealings with PKGP go back to 1992. I was a Packaging Plus franchise owner. This can be verified by RA himself. Give him my warmest regards. He'll remember me fondly.
Does anyone here know that PKGP was in the franchise business? True, albeit very unsuccessfully. Suffered two, not one but two, franchisee mutinies. Full of promises, no substance, no support. I'm sure that by now there are no franchises, the ones that didn't die for lack of support simply told the much beloved RA to piss off. (Full disclosure: The business I started still exists although I have since sold it.)
I remember distinctly a steady stream of new plans, and promises, and new investors, and stock offerings, and mergers, and acquisitions, and pots of gold, and rainbows. All of which were just around the corner, none of which ever happened. I remember all kinds suckers that were convinced to fold their businesses into PKGP (for probably no more than stock that would become worthless). A candy company, an advertising company, a fulfillment company, a corrugated company, a logistics company, a ticket company the list goes on. All of these were the next great idea, the next thing that was going to make the company take off.
I see reference to APAC and it's obvious from some of the posts that no one has bothered to do any research. I only read the last 50 posts or so but it's obvious that no one here knows the small parcel packing and shipping business. APAC is a joke in the industry. It has no members, or at least none who pay dues. It offers no services or benefits that one can't obtain on their own, or through other more favored associations. I won't bother to go into the genesis of APAC just let it be known it is not an original idea, just a good idea gone bad under keen leadership. Do your homework folks. There are tens of thousands of parcel shipping stores all over this country. Go in one. Ask if they've heard of APAC. Ask if they've heard of Packaging Plus.
I don't know anything about this Skynet that's been mentioned but I can only assume from experience it's just the latest company savior. And for those who think that APAC members are going feed it millions in revenues, you'll see the tooth fairy next to your pillow first.
So, what is all this rambling for? I don't know, like a said, I saw a reference to PKGP chased it down, it led me here. When I saw that Richard is still at it I started writing. I don't like to see nice people lose their money. It's gonna happen. They call Bill Clinton Slick Willie, but let me tell you the much admired RA taught him everything he knows. He's the original flim flam man. The true essence of the snake oil salesman. I sincerely admire the man's gift. It's just too bad it hasn't been put to productive use.
There was a previous post #2422 by a Mr. Lakers17. Read it and take heed, it's on the mark.
Well thanks for the time, best of luck with your investments.
Cheers -
