WSJ article says Island is going to put nite out of business. Island allows a trader to buy a stock between the spread. You have to buy 1000 shares though through island. Datec offers island trades for example. Right now much of electronic trading from the internet is funneled into nite. WSJ article says that if all trading starts to go through island instead of MM, the spread will get to thin for the MM to profit and that would be it for nite and other MM's. Nite says they will create their own ECN like island if things start to look this way. Much more about it on yahoo threads.
