Len, I considered making my interface available as shareware when I first started writing it. It's way too much work and functionality and maintenance to give away for free. Beyond what I described before, it does historical graphs with some technicals, intraday graphs, quote tables, portfolio management, etc. And it doesn't just interact with Datek. It uses other web sites as well. But in the end, I decided I just didn't want to support it for anyone else. I'm more interested in spending my time trading and I just add functionality and maintain it to suit my own needs. Sorry. My first message was just to point out that it is quite tractable to write applications to interact with brokers using http/html.
