Anyway - Rod tell me about the approach Corel took in Office for Java. Applix and Lotus both followed the path Corel set in developing for Java. However, rather than redirecting there effort both companies went ahead and developed water downed useless products. Also tell me more about the programmers who have walked. Sure there have been a number of employees who have left Corel. This is common of a company that is going through a grueling challenge. Check out the ex-Corel employee web page, not one of them have been recruited by any of the Top players. I can assure you the brain trust behind corel products is secure. Mainly because it was never vested within one person.

As for having a clue about modern software development, I am interested to hear your take. Please enlighten me. I am interested to hear your take on the industry, where things are going. Tell me your thoughts on Linux, Java, Windows CE the general state of things. Where do you see the industry going. Come on Rod, put yourself out on a limb for once. Tell us your thoughts, rather than tear into everyone elses. Ping!
As for blaming sun. Corel never placed blame solely with Sun. Even today Java has not held the promise in initially did. As to Corel never developing an office productivity suite your right. Corel only picked it up ad made it better. As for your commnet to 80's spaghetti code, just about every product on the market today is comprised of legacy code. Windows is the greatest example. By the way you seem to be a master of weaving others' one-liners. You have nothing to base that comment on other than hearing it on post the day of the Orem lay-offs. If I had any less of a life I would find the post for you. I am sure you have it tagged somewhere. Please explain to me the folly of shutting down Orem. Explain to me how you would have done it.

As for Microsoft keeping Citrix expensive and slow, I think you are over estimating the control Microsoft has in the Citrix game. There is no doubt Microsoft holds the cards now - lets not forget the days of Apple domination, followed by IBM. The game changes and it happens quick.

I think it is more than appropriate to call Mike Cowpland a visionary. How many people do you know that have built two extremely successful companies.

As for Microsoft and graphics - I will wait and see. Just like Money, Encarta, and Microsoft Bob, not everything Microsoft touches turns to gold. I predict a resounding thud!

Explain to me how Corel's Java effort and Netwinder are bungled. Both projects from the get go were not anticipated to generate revenue for the short term. That has always been mentioned in every management discussion. Cowpland and incompetent manager? You have no clue as to the inner workings at Corel. There is more than one man behind the managment of the Company.

As for you Rod, bro! You may be in San Diego but your heart is definately in Ottawa.

As far as the American dream - look around any of the wealthiest neighborhoods. Everyone's dream may be different, but materialism sure seems to be a common denominator. As for an old fart driving around with a trophy wife - I don't think the age gap is what it appears. Such a judgement seems a little prejudice.

I do understand the market, that is why I am not invested. But to try and tear Corel to nothing is absurd. This company holds a lot of promise. With that promise comes a lot of risk. My point in starting this discussion was to point out that all-though you may have lost a lot of money on this stock, the company has great product, great people and a lot of potential. It is far the garbage heap you are making it out to be.

And you and your pals are correct - I will disappear. My intent was to be heard, rile you guys up and leave. Letting you feel stronger through unification of negativity. I am still perplexed as to why you spend so much of your time with this washed-up company? There must be some sick fascination. Rod, you failed to address your reputation on the Yahoo thread.
